Word of the Day

Each day a different word will appear on the Community Commitment Education Center's website; its meaning will be defined by Nicole L Bouie.  The definition of words placed on this site should not be used in place of a formal dictionary, but used to inspire positive change within self and the community in which we live.

    Community Commitment Education Center's Daily News, August 10, 2018

Carrollton United Community Meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2018.

Community Commitment's Word of the Day, August 10, 2018
Rain -It can hide a broken heart or cause a strong heart to ache. It is given to us as apart of nature and usually framed inside of a moody cloud. For children it gleefully means a slow and long awaited school day; for the adults, we share lost dreams and desired hopes for tomorrow. Rain is defined as An Uplifting Playdate. NLB

-Community Commitment is taking part in the GiveNOLA project and we need your support! Follow the link below and show your support on May 1, 2018 or schedule now a donation that will post on May 1, 2018. Our families need your support and you are appreciated.
Please donate to the Community Commitment Education Center's after-school program and Summer Camp. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $60,000.00 to serve 50 students for 44 weeks. The after-school program began October 16, 2017. All children in grades K-12 are welcomed to attend at no cost. All donations will help build a stronger New Orleans while also enriching the lives of our community members. Press the donate button on the left or visit us at 8540 Spruce St. to make a donation. For a tax deductible donation make your payments to the Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church for Community Commitment (put Community Commitment in the memo) and mail it to 8540 Spruce St. New Orleans, La. 70118. Thank you. NLB

Our Mission

The Community Commitment Education Center was founded on the premise of one neighbor helping another. Our primary goal is to connect the people of our community with the available resources.  Community Commitment strives to serve the community through the development of:

        * Community Advocacy
        * Improved Communication Skills for Adults and the Elderly
        * Social Skills Training for Adolescents and Young Adults
        * Emergency Assistance to Families in Need

Community Advocacy - Once a client has requested our assistance with the preparation of documents or identifies a need for advocacy, a representative from the Community Commitment agency will work with the client to insure that his or her rights are identified and protected.

Improved Communication - Adult clients that may have problems with literacy or basic computer skills may receive tutoring on a weekly basis through small group or individualized instruction.

Social Skills Training - Training will be offered to school age youth and young adults looking for tools to improve their behavior and reduce their negative response to anger and life stressors.

Emergency Assistance - Financial assistance may be given to our low income clients who are in need of housing placement, the prevention of an eviction, or the disconnection of their home utility services.

Word of the Day - Each day a different word will appear on the Community Commitment website; its meaning will be defined by Nicole L Bouie. The words are intended to inspire positive change in the lives of our clients and those who view the website.
